Glossary

Every term that appears in AbsoluteSport, in plain English. If a number on the dashboard ever confuses you, it’s defined here.

The metrics that matter most

Edgecore

How much better the available price is than the "true" price our model estimates. Positive edge (+EV) means the bet is theoretically profitable long-term.

e.g. Brazil −0.25 priced at 2.09 when fair value is 1.92 = +7.4% edge.

AI fair oddscore

The price our model thinks a market should be, based on probabilities. Compare it to the bookmaker price to spot value.

CLV — Closing Line Valuecore

Whether you beat the closing line (the final price before kickoff). Consistently positive CLV is the strongest sign of genuine betting skill — it's hard to fake with luck. It's also 60% of your AS Score in the Cup.

Backed 2.09, line closed at 1.92 → CLV +8%.

AS Scorethe Cup

Your 0–100 ranking score in the AbsoluteSport Cup. Weighted 60% Closing Line Value, 30% risk-adjusted return, 10% volume & consistency — built to reward skill over luck.

ROI — Return on Investment

Profit divided by total amount staked, as a percentage. Steady positive ROI over many bets is what you're aiming for.

Kelly stake

A staking formula that sizes each bet by your edge and the odds, to grow a bankroll efficiently without over-betting. We show a recommended Kelly fraction (usually ¼ Kelly) for every edge.

Betting markets

Asian Handicap (AH)

A handicap that removes the draw by giving one team a head start (or deficit) in goals, often in quarter-line steps (−0.25, −0.75). Levels uneven matchups and is the sharpest market in football.

Brazil −1.5 must win by 2+ goals for the bet to win.

Over / Under (O/U)

A bet on the total number of goals (or cards, corners) being above or below a line. "Over 2.5 goals" wins if 3+ are scored.

1X2

The classic match-result market: home win (1), draw (X), away win (2).

BTTS — Both Teams To Score

A yes/no bet on whether both teams find the net.

The data signals

xG — Expected Goals

The quality of chances a team created, expressed as the number of goals an average team would score from them. Live xG tells you who "should" be ahead, regardless of the score.

Pressure Index / Momentum

A live measure of which team is on top right now, based on where play is happening and the danger created. Spikes often precede goals — and line moves.

Line movement

How a price changes over time as money comes in and information arrives. Sharp money moving a line is a signal worth watching; we chart it per market.

Sharp money

Bets from professional, winning bettors. When the price moves against the public's side, sharps are usually behind it.
